Art exhibition launches at the Riverside Art Gallery in Tinahely

Over 70 art works are on display at the Riverside Business Centre in
Tinahely, County Wicklow, as the centre has officially opened its art
gallery. The Riverside Art Gallery aim is to display and auction pieces of
contemporary Irish art several times per year.

Launching the first exhibition at the art gallery was special guest Mick
McCarthy, RTE television producer and former head of feature and
documentary programmes, on Thursday 12th April where the opening reception
was attended by artists and locals.

McCarthy said the collection at the art gallery was impressive both for
the quantity and quality of the artwork displayed.

The first art exhibition at Riverside Art Gallery follows a variety of
styles and materials, including oil paintings, watercolours and prints.
The artwork will be on display until 29th April, when the first exhibition
will be auctioned.

Tinahely is fast becoming a recognised centre for the arts with many
national and international artists, sculptors and writers living and
working in the area. Local artist Senan O’Brien is lending his artistic
and technical support to the gallery.

The exhibition includes artwork by Irish artists such as Padraig McCaul
and his Achill paintings, Michael Gemmell’s The Clown’s Imagination, Orla
Walsh Pop Art inspired work, Eoin O’Connor colorful country scenes and
many others.
