IHWT launches Gifts Catalogue

Urges horse-fans to buy ethical presents this Christmas

Irish Horse Welfare Trust Christmas cardsCharity Irish Horse Welfare Trust (IHWT) has unveiled its new gift catalogue and is urging fans to buy ethical presents this Christmas.

The catalogue includes Christmas cards, stock-fillers such as IHWT pens and key rings, gifts for your horse, the exclusive Louloubelle ‘Hazel’ designer handbag and also the IHWT clothing range of fleeces and t-shirts.

“We have a good range of presents that will appeal to all horse fans but also anybody interested in giving their Christmas presents an ethical touch this year,” explains Sharon Newsome, founder of IHWT. The funds go directly to support IHWT’s work rescuing and re-training horses at its farm in Woodenbridge, County Wicklow.

“We’d like people to remember the hard work our volunteers do all year around and let them know there is something they can do to help this Christmas,” she adds. 90% of the IHWT team is made by volunteers who contribute their time to help at the farm, as well as welfare officers on the field and other professionals.

The ‘Hazel’ bag, designed by Louise O’Leary of Louloubelle bags, is named after Louise’s own rescue thoroughbred mare. It is an exquisite soft dark brown leather bag, made in Northern Italy by an atelier who uses only ethically sourced Tuscan leather. “Having rescued horses myself, I wanted to help the IHWT and the most obvious way for a designer to help is to design, and so I came up with the ‘Hazel’ bag,” said Louise.

Gifts can be purchased online at www.ihwt.ie. Gift vouchers are also available from the IHWT website and businesses looking to become Welfare Aware and donate to the charity, can also do so online.
