Horsebox TV has started a year long series of filming following the work of the Irish Horse Welfare Trust (IHWT) – Irelands’ leading Equine Welfare Charity. The first film which is just over seven minutes long is an overview of the Charity which outlines its functions and shows the facilities at the 68 Acre Farm in Co Wicklow where an average of 60 equines are cared for at any one time. Clips shown include foals born at the farm along with some of the horses and ponies looking for new homes. The second film clip shows “Alfie” a rescued yearling colt now in rehabilitation at the IHWT centre and horsebox TV will follow his progress over the coming months.
“These films are professionally filmed and give people a chance to see first hand the work carried out by the Charity as well as following the stories of some of the horses and ponies that come through our centre”, says Sharon Newsome spokesperson for the IHWT. “We hope to film other areas of our work including the ‘Ex-racehorse Re-training for Re-homing Programme’ over the coming months which we hope that it will create a greater interest in Equine Welfare and gain more understanding and support for the important work carried out by the IHWT”
