Money raised to support Club Wexford players welfare funds
Striking images of the Wexford camogie team in glamorous outfits and high heels are now being published in a fashion calendar, The Model County 2012, to help the team raise funds for their club.
Top Irish fashion photographer Dermot Byrne is the author of the art-house pictures, showing the double All-Ireland champions looking as stylish as professional models – and not a hurley in sight.
For the photoshoot, the girls were treated to professional make up by Yvonne Maher, hair by Unique Hair Design and styled by Peig Donegan of Tresor boutique at Rathwood. “It was a chance for them to shine but in a different way to what they are used to, to glam up and they looked sensational,” says Peig.
The calendar is being officially launched at a reception followed by fun awards and dancing at the Amber Springs Hotel in Gorey, County Wexford, on Friday 11th November. The event is open to the public and tickets cost €5.
“The event is an opportunity to meet the camogie team, have a social evening and be the first ones to see and get hold of a copy of the calendar,” Patrick Doyle, of Tom Doyle Supplies, who came up with the idea of a calendar with the Wexford Camogie champions and is the main sponsor.
The 12 calendar pictures will be also on display on the night, as part of a photography exhibition that will be then touring the county. The pictures will be on show from Saturday 12th November for a week at Tom Doyle Supplies in Camolin.
The Wexford camogie team will be also doing calendar signings on Friday 11th November at the official launch and around the county in November and December.
The calendar can be purchased at Gala shops around County Wexford, Tom Doyle Supplies in Camolin and Rathwood and online at www.tomdoylesupplies.com
All proceeds go to Wexford GAA Players welfare funds
