Irish Horse Welfare Trust, MS Ireland and Bóthar benefit from charity night

Zara’s Planet, the Irish owned travel agency who organises horse riding holidays worldwide held its inaugural Charity Safari Ball in the K Club, co Kildare.  A stunning venue, the night saw in excess of 120 people gathered to raise money for these worthy charities.  Clients of Zara’s Planet, safari guides and hunters from across the world, local equine enthusiasts and supporters of all things equine were decked out in their finery to enjoy the night which began with a champagne reception and ended with dancing till the early hours.

A total of €6,000 was raised in the raffle and an auction on the night.

Speeches were given after dinner by Zara Stassin of Zara’s Planet, Sharon Newsome of the Irish Horse Welfare Trust and Jasper Wynn, international equine journalist.  There then followed an auction with items donated from a range of well wishers including Ants Nest Safari Lodge in South Africa, Dubarry Ireland and Equestrian Art Ireland.  All the tables received goodie bags sponsored by TRI equestrian.  The event was truly international with 25 representatives from countries as far away as Zambia, South Africa and Argentina.  Local well known supporters included Ann Smurfit, Valerie Beamish, Sammy Leslie, David Lawlor, Sharon Newsome and Jillian Godsil.

Zara thanked everyone who attended and supported on the night.  “It was a great success due to the people who came and donated their money and also to the kind sponsors.  We look forward to next year’s celebration.”
