Rolling Stones fans out there, you have now the chance to bid for one of Ron Wood’s own prints at the online charity auction hosted by horse charity Irish Horse Welfare Trust.
Musician and artist Wood is supporting the auction by donating one his prints to raise funds for the IHWT. The charity, based in Woodenbridge, County Wicklow, rescues, re-habilitates and finds new homes for neglected horses across Ireland.
Other items available to date make ideal Christmas presents: visits to yeard of some of the top Irish and English trainers, including Aidan O’Brien, Nicky Henderson, Jessica Harrington, Sir Michael Stoute and Paul Nolan. Also included are interior design packages by Meath interior designer Sue Barrett, corporate packages to many racecourses, unique single colour silks and even a round of golf with top flat jockey Johny Murtagh.
The auction starts tomorrow 26th November, log on to www.ihwt.ie/auction
A major capital appeal helped the Charity to buy the IHWT farm in October 2008 where it is currently caring for more than 60 equines. Residents at the farm include rescued thoroughbred horses and ponies of various types, sizes and ages, along with 14 ex-racehorses which are in a special programme to be retrained for re-homing having completed their racing careers.
In 2005 the first online auction was very successful and in the region of €170,000 gross was raised, in 2009 more than €75,000 was raised and this time it is hoped to raise even more. Despite the current financial climate, everyone involved with the IHWT is optimistic that the target can be reached.
*Items can still be accepted during the auction – if you like to donate an item, please contact Avril Perrin avril@podspr.com
